SWISS COW
The "Swiss Cow" series is deeply personal, reflecting a period of solitude and connection with nature during my time living in Switzerland. I found companionship in the cows grazing in the Swiss countryside, forming an unusual but powerful bond with these animals.
In Switzerland, cows are not just animals; they are iconic symbols of the country’s pastoral beauty, tradition, and culture. This series represents the cows not only as part of the landscape but as sentient beings with whom I shared an emotional connection. The drawings depict these cows in intimate and sometimes whimsical portrayals, where their presence transcends mere livestock to become symbolic friends, guardians, and companions.
The repetitive use of line work with ballpoint pen mirrors the rhythmic sounds of cowbells in the distance, and the minimalistic approach captures the essence of calmness and quietude that defined my time in Switzerland. These works are not just pastoral studies but reflections on themes of isolation, companionship, and the way we project emotions onto the natural world when faced with solitude.
The cows, in their stillness and patience, became a source of grounding for me, a way to anchor my thoughts and experiences during a time of personal reflection.
Through these drawings, I explore the relationship between humans and animals, the emotional landscapes of isolation, and the subtle beauty of life lived in sync with nature.
