The Holypop series represent my ongoing process of deconstructing a forgotten artistic language. Ignoring social and political conventions, I explore lost aesthetic ideals and place them in unfamiliar and contradictory context. The work invites reflection on belief systems, cultural memory, and the shifting meanings of spiritual symbols in a world shaped by mass media and consumerism.

I seek to challenge how sacredness and beauty survive.

This textile panel is rooted in personal interactions with women of Ribnovo village. Every element is the result of careful archiving of these testimonies: reflections on love, life and beliefs.

The materials are imbued with cultural significance, transforming from essential components of Ribnovo women’s clothing into symbols and artifacts. This fusion creates a portrayal of female grief, longing, and fear of loneliness, weaving memories and utopian ideals to challenge notions of identity and womanhood.

The work  is made during the “Little bird” Artist Residency in Leshten, Bulgaria.
